About Westmoreland-New Kensington

Westmoreland's New Kensington center is located in downtown New Kensington and houses traditional and technology-equipped classrooms as well as science labs for biology, chemistry and healthcare-related programs.

The center also includes a video conferencing classroom, computer labs, accommodations for workforce development training, a student lounge with Wi-Fi and multipurpose rooms for large college and community activities. Parking is free for students, staff and visitors.

The site is also home of PA CareerLink®, which provides career and workforce development services to employers as well as job seekers.

Surg Tech Ribbon CuttingSurgical Technology, AAS at Westmoreland-New Kensington

Find your career in a clinic or the operating room with a Surgical Technology, AAS degree. Students who have completed program requirements may sit for the certifying examination offered by the National Board on Certification for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). 

Our NEW Surgical Technology program is conveniently located at our New Kensington Center where there is free parking and renovated rooms with up-to-date technology.

Criminal Justice, AA at Westmoreland-New Kensington

Students at New Kensington can earn their Criminal Justice, AA at the center, preparing them to transfer or to enter the workforce. This degree can help students qualify for law enforcement careers that require 60 college credits.

Graduates of Westmoreland’s program will have met all of the competencies articulated in the Pennsylvania Statewide Program to Program Articulation Agreement in Criminal Justice approved by the Transfer and Articulation Oversight Committee (TAOC) on June 16, 2011.

  • At the second traffic signal, turn left on to 4th Avenue
  • Follow 4th Avenue up to Heilman Drive
  • Turn right onto Heilman Drive
  • Turn right onto 5th Avenue. Center is located on the left

From Greensburg Road

  • At the Parnassus Intersection, (CVS), proceed straight through the traffic signal onto Industrial Boulevard
  • Stay on Industrial Boulevard through town and past the 9th Street Bridge
  • At the stop sign, go straight and proceed to 5th Avenue
  • Turn right on to 5th Avenue. Center is located on the left
