Activate your handshake account
Handshake is Westmoreland’s official job resource for students and alumni. Handshake is an intuitive, easy-to-use job search system that can help connect you with employers. For instructions on how to get started, click here. When using Handshake or any job board, students and alumni should research employers and opportunities before applying for or accepting employment. Protect yourself and your information by recognizing and avoiding job/internship scams.
How to maximize your handshake account
Handshake uses an algorithm (like Netflix or Spotify) to help you find jobs related to your interests. The more you fill out your profile, the more Handshake populates opportunities related to what you’re looking for. You can also follow and message employers, read reviews of other students’ experiences to help decide if an opportunity is a good fit for the student. Additionally, you can access a calendar of employer and Career Connections Center Events.
3 cups of coffee GRAD
If you are a recent graduate, participate in the 3 Cups of Coffee GRAD mentoring program. This program will match you with a professional in your field to support you in your job search. You’ll work with your mentor to strengthen your interview and job search skills and help you create a customized career plan. You’ll do all this while your professional network.
