ALEKS Placement Exception:

The ALEKS math placement test is required for most students, but there are exceptions.  Students who have already earned an associate or bachelor's degree, or transfer students whose college transcripts validate satisfactory completion of prerequisite math coursework, may be excempt from the ALEKS math placement process.

If you are transferring credits from another college, please make sure that process has been initiated and all required documents have been submitted.

Completing these steps in advance will allow your Pathway Advisor to provide you with the most accurate and helpful guidance.

Before meeting with a Pathway Advisor, please ensure that you have completed the following steps:

  • Submitted your admissions application
  • Provided all official transcripts (high school and/or college)
  • Completed the ALEKS math placement assessment unless exempt (see exception above, under Step 3)
  • Though not mandatory, it is helpful to have your FSA ID completed https://studentaid.gov/.   Once you have your FSA ID, our Financial Aid team will then be able to assist you with the FAFSA application.
  • Contact registerFREEWESTMORELAND or call 724-925-6893 to make an appointment.

If you have taken any college courses while in high school (dual enrollment), you must also request those official college transcripts.  These can typically be ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse website.

If you are a homeschool student, we will need the following (these documents can be sent to transcriptsFREEWESTMORELAND):

  • Diploma, signed by your homeschool evaluator
  • Grade 12 evaluation, signed by the same evaluator
  • Final transcript
