Creating Opportunities for Westmoreland County Residents
Established in 1986, the Westmoreland County Community College Educational Foundation is dedicated to the mission, vision and values of Westmoreland through community awareness, advocacy and financial support for our college and the community we serve.
Future leaders, taxpayers, parents and residents of our region can be found right now walking the halls of our college, sitting in the classrooms and developing their futures.
Many of Westmoreland's students (97%) can be expected to stay right here at home, building a strong and vibrant regional economy. Our students are the future of Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties.

Scholarship Support
The Foundation recognizes that while Westmoreland County Community College has one of the lowest cost of attendance of any public college or university in Pennsylvania, there are still many students who find it financially difficult to attend.
During the 2020-2021 academic year, the Educational Foundation provided close to $109,245 in scholarship support for students studying at Westmoreland.
New Programs
In addition, the Educational Foundation has raised more than $6.5 million in the past three years to help provide funding for the many new and innovative programs offered at the Westmoreland.
Why Your Gift is So Important
A proper education and workforce development training is vital in today's economy. Westmoreland has developed new academic programs to meet the job needs of our region's employers.
Programs such as Nursing and Allied Health, Advanced Technology and IT / Computer Information Security, to name just a few of our 63 majors, are giving area residents an opportunity to obtain an education close to home and pursue careers in these fields.
Knowing that a skilled workforce is vital to keeping our business community strong, we continue to add programs as we recognize new needs and opportunities. Many area businesses have turned to Westmoreland to train or retrain their workforce, keeping their organizations competitive in today's global economy.
And, with your gift to the Westmoreland Educational Foundation's Annual Fund, you can designate how you would like your funds to be used:
Donation Categories
Scholarships: The Westmoreland Educational Foundation will provide close to 300 scholarships this academic year! Without scholarship support, many of these students may not have the opportunities now available to them.
Under scholarships, you may designate the scholarship that you would like to support or you may select the General Scholarship Fund, which are awarded to students in all program areas. These scholarships apply to tuition, fees and book expenses only.
Equipment/Technology: To keep pace with ever-changing technology and to make available all of the latest innovations for our students, Westmoreland is constantly upgrading equipment and laboratories.
The ability to keep up with the latest technology is expensive, and funds are needed to continue to provide our students with resources to obtain the best possible education.
Greatest Need: Let us determine the area of greatest need as we look to the future and develop new programs.
