Composites Class

Build the Future - Layer by Layer

From aerospace and automotive to wind energy and sports equipment, advanced composites are shaping the modern world. These lightweight, high-strength materials are replacing traditional metals in industries that demand performance, durability and innovation.

Westmoreland County Community College has partnered with the Build Back Better Regional Challenge and the New Economy Collaborative to launch a Composites Manufacturing Technician Program that will give you the hands-on training to break into this fast-growing field - no prior experience required.

What are Composites?

Composites are materials made by combining two or more components - like fibers and resins - to create something stronger, lighter, and more versatile than traditional materials.

Think carbon fiber bike frames, aircraft components, and high-performance automotive parts. These products rely on skilled technicians who know how to design, build and repair composite materials.

Why Choose Composites?

  • High-demand industry with growing career opportunities
  • Hands-on work using cutting-edge materials and equipment
  • Opportunities across industries like aerospace, manufacturing, energy and more
  • Pathway to industry credentials and career advancement
