Westmoreland's Public Safety Training Center offers fire and rescue classes each semester. Classes include:

Training at PSTC

Certified Training Classes & Certification Programs

In addition to offering training courses for our emergency response community, the PSTC offers Certified Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Firefighter Training Classes and serves as a designated test site for the Volunteer Fire Service Certification Program.

Course Applications

Volunteer Fire Service Certification Program

The Volunteer Fire Service Certification Program is developed in accordance with and consistent to established standards by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The PSTC is designated as a test site by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State Fire Academy and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).

Currently, the PSTC offers the following certification exams:

  • Hazardous Materials Awareness
  • Firefighter I
  • Firefighter II
  • Instructor I
  • Fire Officer I
  • Driver/Operator - Pumper

Additional exams may be available for piloting based on request and PSFA availability.

Certified PA State Fire Academy Firefighter Training Classes

Certified instructors, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, can conduct classes on site at local fire stations. These classes provide excellent hands-on and classroom instruction. The individual department's equipment and apparatus are used.
