Westmoreland County Community College Welcomes Triangle Tech Students to the Advanced Technology Center

June 7, 2024

With the announced closure of Triangle Tech locations across the market, Westmoreland County Community College is opening its doors at the Advanced Technology Center to help students that may have planned to go to Triangle Tech.

“We never wish to see education centers close in our region, especially when the demand for trained professionals in these fields is in such high demand,” said Dr. Tuesday Stanley, president, Westmoreland County Community College. “We want to help students stay in the region and join the workforce. We wanted to be sure to reach out to students and offer to help.”

A special counselor has been assigned to help students who may be planning to attend or those who wish to attend and transfer coursework.

“Our staff are experts in helping students review their options when they make a change in their education plans,” stated Dr. Byron Kohut, dean, School of Technology. “Ellie Nesser will work with all the students to customize a plan for them so that they can achieve their goal and obtain a job that has a bright future.”

Westmoreland County Community College students are sought after by companies even before graduation. Companies recruit all year long and often send new hires to the college for additional training - and cover the cost of the training.

The Advanced Technology Center, conveniently located off Rt. 70 in Mount Pleasant, offers state-of-the-art labs and classrooms for a variety of careers in manufacturing and other technically oriented areas like welding, robotics, engineering, HVAC, drafting and many more. The facility occupies 73,500-square-feet of space at RIDC-Westmoreland in Mt. Pleasant (the former Sony plant).

The center features technology equipped classrooms; specialized labs for hands-on training; open, flexible instructional space that allows for collaborative learning; administrative offices; and a student lounge.

Classes are conducted days and evenings, and ample free parking makes the ATC a convenient choice. Plus, academic counseling, tutoring and other tools needed for success are available at the center.
