Westmoreland County Community College to conduct Nurse Aide Program at two locations this fall

Westmoreland County Community College is conducting a Nurse Aide Program October 1 through December 1 at the Youngwood campus and October 8 through December 8 at Westmoreland-Indiana County.

The program consists of 72 hours of lecture/lab and 56 hours of clinical experience. Classes will meet Mondays and Wednesdays 6-10:15 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The curriculum meets federal government guidelines and provides students with the skills needed to function as a nursing assistant in a long-term care facility. Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible to sit for the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Certification Exam.

Cost of the program is $809 and a high school diploma or GED is required. Uniforms, a Pennsylvania Criminal Record check, a physical exam and liability insurance will be at the student’s expense.
