Welcome to Westmoreland: A New Way to Get Started
At Westmoreland County Community College, we understand that students are balancing
work, family and busy schedules. That’s why we’ve reimagined how you begin your college
journey.
No Formal In-Person Orientation
Unlike most colleges and universities, we are not requiring a traditional, in-person New Student Orientation session.
Instead, we’ve created a more flexible approach that allows you to get started on your time, at your pace—without needing to attend a scheduled event.
Required: New Student Welcome Video
All new students are required to complete a 20-minute New Student Welcome video.
- Key campus resources
- How to access your student tools
- Tips for getting started successfully
You can complete it whenever it fits your schedule—whether that’s during a lunch break, in the evening, or on the weekend.
Optional: The Westmoreland Way – Summer Success Series
Looking for more support or a chance to connect? We’ve got that covered too.
Join our optional summer workshop series at the Youngwood campus:
Westmoreland Way: Summer Success Series
- Build confidence before classes begin
- Learn strategies for academic success
- Connect with staff and resources
You can participate in as many sessions as you’d like—based on your interests and availability.
Stay Connected This Summer
We’re also creating new ways for you to engage with other incoming students—without needing to be on campus.
- Virtual engagement opportunities
- Online communities and updates
- Additional ways to connect and stay informed
