February 11, 2025

Westmoreland County Community College (Westmoreland) has named Dr. Kristin L. Mallory as president, effective July 1, 2025.

Dr. Mallory brings a wealth of leadership experience and a passion for higher education to Westmoreland, with a proven track record in fostering student success, developing workforce programs, and creating strong community partnerships.

Dr. Mallory currently serves as the vice president for Academic Affairs at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Maryland, a position she has held since 2017. Throughout her career, Dr. Mallory has shown an exceptional commitment to improving educational outcomes and growing workforce development opportunities in the community. She has led successful initiatives aimed at increasing enrollment, retention, and graduation rates, while promoting access to higher education for all students.

“I am deeply honored to join Westmoreland County Community College as president,” Dr. Mallory said. “Throughout my career, I’ve always believed in the power of education, and I look forward to working with the board, faculty, staff, students and the broader community to build upon Westmoreland’s long standing tradition of excellence in education.”

Dr. Mallory holds a Doctorate in Education in Leadership Studies from Marshall University, a Master’s in Education from Salisbury University and an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University in West Virginia.

She began her career in higher education as a part-time instructor and has steadily advanced through various leadership roles in both academic and student affairs. She has also served on multiple state committees and worked extensively with two institutional accreditors.

Under Dr. Mallory’s leadership at Wor-Wic, she played a key role in the development of accelerated course offerings and the revamping of the college’s scheduling process to better serve student needs by increasing retention and completion rates. She also led efforts to improve the structure of continuing education and workforce development programs, ensuring that all programs deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes for students and community partners.

Dr. Mallory is also highly engaged with her community and is a champion for higher education in every aspect of her work. She has served on various committees in the community, including the Education Committee of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Wicomico County's scholarship committee, and participated in strategic planning for the Wicomico County Library. She has consistently championed the importance of educational opportunities at Wor-Wic to community members, K-12 leaders, elected officials and local businesses.

“I am excited to see how Dr. Mallory’s vision, leadership, and dedication will continue to elevate Westmoreland County Community College to new heights,” said Westmoreland Board Chair, Bridget Johnston. “Her experience in academic affairs and workforce development will be a tremendous asset as Westmoreland continues to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our students and community. Her advocacy efforts show her leadership is not limited to inside the college.”

She and her husband Greg are parents to two adult children. And in her spare time, she enjoys walking their husky, Cleo.

Mallory's appointment marks a new chapter for Westmoreland as it continues to expand its role in Westmoreland, Indiana and Fayette counties.
