  • Individual will ensure the safe and efficient operation of studios and equipment of the Art Department
  • Work closely with instructors to implement their needs
  • Maintain inventory
  • Order and receive equipment chemicals and materials
  • Provide technical support, maintenance and repair of studio facilities for three areas: Painting/Drawing, Printmaking/Textiles/Book Arts/Typography, and 2D Design/3D design/Woodshop
  • Assist in training and guidance in the safe use of equipment and materials
  • Tool operation and general workshop skills
  • Knowledge of proper handling/storage/disposal of materials
  • Technician will supervise student shop users regarding material and equipment safety as well as appropriate housekeeping practices.
  • Technician schedule includes some weekend and evening hours
  • Must be safety minded
  • Candidates must be able to lift 75 lbs

Special Qualifications:

  • Excellent wood shop skills
  • Experience working with a variety of materials
  • Knowledge of safety codes and safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Good organizational skills including cataloging inventory
  • Art Student or art-related subject
  • Experience providing technical support, maintenance or repair of art studio facilities
  • Knowledge of basic machinery, electricity and electronics
  • Art student preferred
