Education/Early Childhood, Certificate - Director Credential

This nine-credit credential program is designed to prepare personnel to increase their knowledge and understanding of the role of the Early Childhood Director, as defined in Section 3270.34, Chapter 55, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Child Day Care Center Regulations, and to meet the requirements for Staff Education, STAR #3 in the Keystone STARS Quality Improvement Initiative Performance Standards.

In order to enroll in the Pennsylvania Early Childhood Core Credential program, students must: 1) have an associate degree­­ in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or social science field; 2) have an associate degree in any other field, including 30 hours of early childhood education, child development, special education­­, elementary education or social science field; 3) have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development­­, special education, elementary education or social science field; or 4) have a bachelor’s degree in any other field, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or social science field.
 
Following completion of the 9 credits of appropriate coursework obtained here, students may locate information concerning the application process through the PA Key by accessing http://www.pakeys.org/pages/get.aspx?page=home. Click on "Career Development" in the center of the page and then "Degrees/Credentials" in the left menu. The Director's Credential will be awarded to the student by the PA Key when the application requireemnts have been successfully met.
