New Student Orientation

NsoWhat is New Student Orientation?

Welcome to Westmoreland County Community College! To get you started on your ambitious journey, we invite you to participate in New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation is a mandatory half-day experience designed to equip you with what you need to know about academic requirements, campus programs and services, and strategies for success. It is our way of helping you get acclimated to college before your first day of class.

All first-year students are required to participate in New Student Orientation. For your convenience, we offer four half-day sessions. You may choose the session that best fits your schedule.

In addition to providing students with general college information, each of the half-day sessions is designed to help students explore a specific career interest area. Students are not required to attend the session that coincides with their selected major. Rather, students have the opportunity to choose a session in any major. The goal is to equip you to make the best decision about your career path.

If you absolutely cannot attend any of the sessions, please call 724-925-4204 to discuss alternative options.

What is Guest Orientation?

We also offer a Guest Orientation, which is a chance for parents, guardians, spouses and mentors to learn what Westmoreland has to offer their student. Guests will hear about academic requirements and standards, learn how to "do business", hear about campus safety and begin to experience the same things your student will get to take advantage of all year. Guests have different needs and questions, so we make sure that everyone is accommodated by having this orientation separate from the students.

How do I register for orientation?

Click the link below for the session you plan to attend and fill out the online registration form. Students will sign-up their guests at the same time they register themselves. Guests should not complete a separate registration.
