Date Published: December 17, 2018

NEW KENSINGTON, PA – Westmoreland County Community College is working with the Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center (NWCTC) to bring a Welding Engineering Technology certification to the Alle-Kiski area.

Designed to help students who would like to start a welding program in their neighborhood, Westmoreland and the NWCTC have combined their skills in this area to develop a locally based program.

Upon completion of the program, the student will graduate with a certificate in Welding Engineering Technology.  Welding is one of the careers in high demand in the region.  “Our mission is to create curriculum that leads to family sustaining jobs in the area,” said Dr. Kristy Bishop, vice president, Academic Affairs.  “This program is a perfect fit for the Alle-Kiski area and the partnership with the NWCTC benefits the entire community.”

For those interested in pursuing a career welding, please contact Rebecca Parker at 724.925.4104 or parkerr@westmoreland.edu.  Registration is currently open but space is limited.  Classes are set to begin January 10, 2019.
