Program of the Month: Associate of Arts - Transfer
Date Published: December 01, 2017
Westmoreland County Community College offers students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university an affordable and convenient way to complete their first two years of study.
The college’s Associate of Arts degree is a well-rounded program for students who plan to transfer.
Students work with a transfer counselor to design a program that will readily transfer to most institutions without loss of credits and including core general education requirements.
To complete the Associate of Arts degree, students take 38 credit hours in these six areas: English, Humanities, Social Science, Math, Natural Science and Computer Science. Course options include Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Music, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology and Speech Communication.
Students also complete 24 credit hours in elective courses.
Courses taken at Westmoreland transfer to more than 100 bachelor’s degree programs at more than 40 colleges and universities. See the list HERE.
Our counselors help students who have chosen a transfer institution to plan their schedules. They also work with students who are still exploring their transfer options. Representatives from many colleges visit Westmoreland several times each semester to talk with undecided students.
Tuition for Westmoreland County residents taking 12 to 18 credits per semester is just $1,860. Compare that to $3,746 per semester at a university in the Pennsylvania State System of High Education.
Classes for the spring 2018 semester begin January 8. Sign up during or upcoming Xpress Enrollment event on Jan. 6.
